The Man (Part 1) – Documentary on Bishop David Oyedepo

Bishop David Oyedepo, fondly called Papa by church members is the presiding bishop of The Living Faith Ministries Worldwide (a.k.a. Winners Chapel). An architect by training, he has been involved in ministry for about forty years. These are some commonly known facts about this popular preacher.

The documentary narration begins with a quote from John Milton, “The childhood shows the man, as morning shows the day.” We’re introduced to a reenactment of his birth in a church building on September 27, 1954. Whilst attending a vigil his mother went into labour and gave birth to a son that would build many churches across the world.

This initial installment shows how greatness comes in seemingly unlikely packages. Just like the acorn seed that grows into a mighty oak tree, a man with the seed of greatness may not look anything like it. In May 1981 during an 18-hour vision God gave him the instruction which he used to begin life as a preacher. “The hour has come to liberate the world from all oppressions of the devil through the preaching of the word of faith, and I am sending you to undertake this task.”

We will learn about his childhood and what he was like as a boy and the various dreams and more he nurtured on his journey to become one of the men that has helped shape the face of Christianity in Nigeria. In 27:17 mins you will discover that the process and beginnings of this general is just like yours and mine. His humanity has never been in doubt and the lessons to be gleaned from watching will be inspirational and instructive.
