Argentine award-winning footballer, Leo Messi, is still basking in the euphoria of winning his first World Cup on Sunday. On Tuesday, he posted pictures of him laying on his bed with his trophy. According to reports, that post has recorded the highest number of ‘likes’ on Instagram so far with 47million ‘likes’.

In recent times, there has been a debate on who is the greatest player of all times. Messi has also been compared with his late countryman and football legend, Diego Maradona.

Speaking on this comparison, Messi, who is a Catholic, said, “The truth is that I thank God for giving me everything. He’s given me everything. To close out my career with this — even after the last few years — is impressive.”

Messi’s colleague at Brazil, Dani Alves, also spoke about the Argentine’s passion for God. After Messi won the World Cup on Sunday, Alves wrote on Instagram, “I don’t (care) what they tell me. Leo Messi, this World Cup wanted you.

“Football loves you and those of us who love football respect you and congratulate you right now for that moment. And just to top it off, he (Messi) was the one who always talked about the almighty God.”

Messi’s football career started at a young age. He joined Barcelona’s youth academy in Spain and grew to become one of the best players the club has ever produced.

After a successful career at Barca, as the club is also called, Messi moved to French club, Paris Saint-Germain, two years ago.
