Teenager Miraculously Survives Deadly Texas Tornado

Riley Leon

Riley Leon, 16, miraculously survived the deadly Texas tornado last week after his truck flipped over, injuring dozens and killing a 73-year-old woman. While recounting his experience in an interview with NBC 5, the teenager said, “God gave me another chance.”

Leon was returning home in his red 2004 Chevrolet Silverado after a job interview when he was caught in the tornado in Elgin, Texas. The incident was captured in a viral video.

“I honestly didn’t know what to do, to grab onto the steering wheel or to start praying. On the video, it looks like I drove off but in reality I didn’t. I landed in the center of the road and I was just driving to get off the road.

“I am grateful I’m here. I’m grateful God gave me another chance because better things are going to come in the future. Never let small things bring you down because bigger things are going to come,” Leon told KTBC-TV.

Fox7 quoted him as saying, “It was my first time being in a tornado, and hopefully my last time.”

Chevrolet, in collaboration with Bruce Lowrie Chevrolet of Fort Worth, gifted him a brand new 2022 Chevrolet Silverado. Lowrie also gave a $15,000 check to his family. Leon expressed surprise after his family got a new car and a generous gift.

A GoFundMe account was also raised for him. As at Tuesday afternoon, over $42,000 has been raised.
