Pakistani Pastor Murdered after Sunday Service; Killers Unidentified

In Pakistan's north west city of Peshawar on Sunday, a 75-year-old pastor, William Siraj of Shaheed-e-All Saints Church was shot dead in his car on his way from church. The police have described the sad incident as a terrorist attack.

The pastor was driving with his colleague, as Pastor Patrick Naeem, who was left injured. However, he was taken to the hospital where he was taken care of and has since been discharged. Pastor Siraj's family has since taken custody of his body.

Reuters reported that as the pastor's body was taken away from the car, some people around chanted “Long live Jesus Christ”. While reacting to the pastor's death, Bishop Azad Marshall of the Church of Pakistan tweeted, “We demand justice and protection of Christians from the Government of Pakistan."

Also, Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby wrote on Twitter, "We pray for the light of Christ’s justice, hope and peace for our sisters and brothers in the Church of Pakistan." The Capital City Police Officer Abbas Ahsan said, "This is a terror attack. We are determined to protect minorities."

As at the time of writing this report, the suspects have not been identified.
