Kirk Franklin wins Dr. Bobby Jones Best Gospel/Inspirational Award at the 2021 BET Awards

The 2021 BET awards have come and gone and award-winning gospel singer, Kirk Franklin, emerged the winner of the Dr. Bobby Jones Best Gospel/Inspirational Award with his song "Strong God".

  • CeCe Winans - “Never Lost”
  • H.E.R. - “Hold Us Together”
  • Marvin Sapp - “Thank You for It All”
  • Tamela Mann – “Touch From You”
Incidentally Kirk Franklin and Lil Baby kicked the show off with their uplifting collab "We Win," an offering from the forthcoming, LeBron James-starring movie, Space Jam: A New Legacy.

The video features the song’s thought-provoking lyrics while shedding light on issues such as racism, poverty, drug addiction, domestic violence, and COVID-19 through imagery.

It was released in 2020 to raise funds for COVID-19 relief

The host of the awards was Taraji P. Henson and this year's awards celebrated and honored Black women's impact on culture. The show streamed live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles in front of a live audience.
