Chinese textbook disrespects Christians as it falsifies the Bible

The biblical account of John 8:3-11 has been falsified by a communist textbook that Chinese schools are using. The textbook stated that the woman found in adultery was killed by Jesus. Also, it stated that Jesus said that He is also a sinner.

The textbook laid claims to many statements. The University of Electronic Science and Technology Press published the textbook. It is pertinent to note that the Press is being run by the Chinese government.

The text book translated John 8:3-11 in this manner; ''The crowd wanted to stone the woman to death as per their law. But Jesus said, Let the one who has never sinned throw the first stone. Hearing this, they slipped away one by one. When the crowd disappeared, Jesus stoned the sinner to death, saying, I too am a sinner. But if the law could only be executed by men without blemish, the law would be dead.''

UCA news reported that there is a feeling of distress among Catholics in mainland China. This is as a result of the misrepresentation of the bible verse.

This verse has raised reactions on social media after that portion of the textbook was uploaded. A parishioner who read the textbook said that there has always been an intention by the Chinese Communist Party to misinterpret the Churchs history and all that it stands for. More so, it has an intention to rubbish the name of the church and cause hate against it.

More reactions have trailed the social media post. A Catholic named Paul has lent his voice to the present situation of the church in China. In his point raised, he admitted that it is becoming a recurring decimal for the church to be disrespected with maligning statements. However, the church has never been apologized to. Likewise, it is not being accorded the respect it deserves.

The falsification of the Bible comes at a period when the Vatican and China have made plans to revamp a deal on Catholic bishops appointment in China. Nevertheless, Pope Francis has been advised against it by the United States. This was a result of an extreme breach of religious freedom and human rights violation in China.

The aim to manipulate the textbook has been fished out by Bitter Winter - a magazine that is centered on reporting matters on the liberty of religions and human rights in China.

According to the magazine, the story laid emphasis on the good and pure nature of the Chinese Communist. Also, it goes beyond the human beings whom they consider as impure although they represent them. The corrupt nature of the officers does not concern them. In fact, they accept their decisions. This is whether they have honesty as their watch word or they thrive on corruption, it does not change the fact that they are still representatives of the party. The magazine also added that the Partys laws do not come under any form of questioning.

Here's what John 8:3-11 says in the Bible: ''The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery. They made her stand before the group and said to Jesus, Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. In the Law, Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now, what do you say? They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him.

''But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger. When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her. Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground.

''At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there. Jesus straightened up and asked her, Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?

''No one, sir, she said.

''Then neither do I condemn you, Jesus declared. Go now and leave your life of sin.''

In its report, the magazine stated that opposing religion is one thing that China is focusing on teaching children. It is also bent on turning them against family members who are Christians. Equally, they are encouraging them to report to authorities.

It is evident that China has been attacking the church for years. More so, Christ's activists have not been spared.

It is no news that there is a campaign against Christianity in China. It was even more obvious during the Covid-19 outbreak in the country. Churches were destroyed during that period.
