February Polls: Muslim, Christian women pray for Nigeria

Muslim and Christian women under the aegis of Women Interfaith Council (WIC) yesterday gathered in Kaduna State to seek God’s intervention in the February polls.

The Muslim Coordinator of the Council, Hajiya Amina Kazaure, said such prayer was usually held annually, noting that prayer is the key and backbone of everything in life. She said: “Every year, we gather to pray for Nigeria, ourselves and happenings around us. And as the general elections approach, we have gathered to pray for a peaceful conduct of the elections. From what is happening now in the country, all we need is vigorous prayers for God’s intervention. We need peace in the country because so many things are happening and we believe that it is only through prayers that we can get deliverance.”

She also advised Nigerians not to relegate the place of prayer. “Whoever relegates prayer is being misled because God is foremost. Whatever position you are holding today, it is because God destined it and you are going to give account of it,” she noted.

She appealed to women to caution their children against thuggery, saying: “Women should know where their children are at every point in time and know the kind of people their children associate with, because we cannot afford  a repeat of what happened in 2011.”
