Franklin Graham marks dad’s 6th death anniversary

Popular American preacher and the president of Samaritan’s Purse, Franklin Graham, has remembered his late father, Billy Graham, who passed away six years ago.

He wrote on Facebook on Wednesday, February 21, “Six years ago today, my father Billy Graham, went home to heaven. Sometimes, that seems like yesterday, and sometimes it seems like ages ago. He once said, ‘Death marks the beginning, not the end. It is our journey to God.’ That’s true.”

Furthermore, he spoke on the need to accept Jesus as it will determine whether one will spend one’s eternity in heaven or in hell.

He said: “The most important decision any of us make while we are on this earth is whether to accept or reject Jesus Christ as Lord of our lives. That decision will determine whether we spend eternity in heaven in the presence of God, or separated from Him for eternity in Hell. I urge you to turn to Christ today. God loves you and wants to forgive you of your sins if you will ask Him and believe in the name of His son, Jesus Christ.”

As part of plans to mark the late preacher’s sixth death anniversary, his last message ‘The Cross’ was aired on Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN), an international Christian-based broadcast television.

Several people reacted to Franklin’s post. A Facebook user, Jeanmarie Lieb said, “He (Billy) was integral to so many believers’ becoming saved.”

Donald Myres wrote, “In 1960, I first heard your father speak on a 3-day crusade. He spoke with such clarity and power.”

Bj Bennett said, “The last time I saw your father in person, he spoke in 1960 at the baccalaureate service for all McDowell Co High Schools. Our family always followed the crusades over the years. Now, the ‘mantel’ has been passed to you and other members of your family. From the grandparents to the grandkids, your family has been a blessing to the world.”

Another individual, Donna Anderson commented, “He was a great inspiration in our home.”

On his part, Sandi Dhuse said, “I believe in Jesus and I know I will go to heaven when I die. Glorious day to be with Him.”

Billy Graham was born on November 7, 1918, in the United States, and he died on February 21, 2018, in North Carolina, United States.
