Summer is here and people have started travelling and moving about once again. Two years of Covid-19 and movement restrictions is gradually becoming a thing of the past. Or is it? Jon Featherstone recently shared a word of the Lord for the United Kingdom from a time of prayer.
Jon clearly heard, “Covid was
just a warning for what comes next.” As he wondered what this was about, he was
reminded about a scripture verse he’s used to pray several times in the past. This
instance was interesting because he heard it in a way he never had before…
2 Chronicles 7:14 - When I
shut up the heavens and there is no rain, or I send locusts to devour the land
or I send a plague amongst you if my people, who are called by my name, will
humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways,
then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and heal their land.
“I suddenly saw that God was
saying, that he was demanding a response from his people when he does any of the
listed things in the passage.” Going into further details he explained, “I
believe that covid came amongst us, it was just a warning to get God’s people’s
attention. My concern is that in this nation (UK) we chose to go into hiding
rather than into prayer and repentance.”
When he asked the Lord what would
happen if they didn’t respond appropriately, God showed him verse 17 but if you forsake my statutes and my
commandments which I have set before you and if you serve other gods and
worship them, then I will uproot Israel from the land. Mr Featherstone explained
that this simply meant one word, and that word was captivity! For him it meant
further captivity. I believe that covid was a warning for us in this land.
It was a warning to the church, to respond to seek his face to turn from our
sins and seek his face and he’s promised us that if we did that, he would heal
the land.
