4 Ways to Raise Godly Children

Raising Godly children in the 21st century does not come easy. However, it is paramount that parents and guardians start very early. It will help to train and shape the mind of the child. Let’s take a look at some of these ways.

Teach them values
Teaching your children values such as respect, kindness, fairness, and empathy, and many other values will go a long way to build them morally. When children are taught to respect their elders at a young age, it will stick to their memory even as they grow old. Children should be taught to be fair and show empathy when necessary. Preach love to them and the essence of it.

Build self confidence in them
Some parents tend to instill fear into their children which affects their self confidence. Groom your children to express themselves freely with respect. There is nothing wrong with disciplining your children. However, teach them to be confident in themselves.

A child that is constantly beaten at every wrong doing will definitely not see the need to try out things for himself or herself. A child should be allowed to make errors and be corrected with love. In the Bible, there are several accounts of Jesus Christ rebuking those who err, however, he did it love and often brought those people close to him.

Contentment is a virtue
American author and life coach, Tony Gaskins said, “To be content doesn't mean you don't desire more, it means you're thankful for what you have and patient for what's to come.”

Teaching your children godliness and contentment is a big deal. These days, the younger generation are consumed with the desire to get-rich-quick. Children must be taught to live according to the tenets of the scriptures.

1 Timothy 6:6 says, “But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that.”

Children must be taught the need for hardwork if they want to succeed in life. This will ensure that they avoid get-rich-quick syndrome.

Preach against evil acts
Evil prevails when the righteous choose to keep quiet and do nothing about it. As parents and guardians, teach your children to shun evil. Let them know that stealing, lying, dishonesty and cheating are not good. Hence, they must shun them.

Romans 12:2 says, “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

Parents should endeavor to constantly teach their children about God’s word. It will not only help them to live purposefully, it will also help them to withstand the challenges in the society.
