Nigerians Eulogise Late Pastor Nomthi Odukoya

                     (Pastor Nomthi Odukoya)

Pastor Nomthi Odukoya, wife of the Senior Pastor of Fountain of Life Church, Pastor Taiwo Odukoya died yesterday, November 9 at age 47. Her death was announced by the church on its social media pages. The sad news had some persons grieving as they recounted her impact on the church and her family.

Nigerians have eulogized the late preacher and prayed for God to comfort her family, especially her husband and children she left behind. Below are some of the comments on the passing of Pastor Nomthi Odukoya.

Laurie Idahosa said, ‘’I loved her. My friend, my sister, my ‘’fellow immigrant,’’ as we used to call each other. We have too many happy memories together to recount. She’s someone I could call on anytime and she would be there for me. I tried my best to be there for me. I tried my best to be that same kind of friend to her. When she told me about her cancer, almost 2 years ago during the early days of Covid, I held back the tears. I swallowed them as best I could, while showing her a strong front and being her prayer partner.

‘’She was strong, she was resolute, she fought… and some will say she won because she is now with Jesus. If this is winning, why does it come with so much pain? One day, god will answer this question for me. Our prayers are steadfast with Pastor Taiwo Odukoya and the entire family. May God comfort all who knew and loved her. To know her was to love her.’’

Pastor Nike Adeyemi wrote, ‘’It’s with a heavy heart I say goodnight to Pastor Nomthi Odukoya. We prayed, stood in faith with you that you will pull through this battle with cancer. Yet, God wanted you home. Praying for the comfort and strength of the Holy Spirit for Pastor, the children, the entire Odukoya and the Fountain of Life Church family.''

Singer Obiora Obiwon said, ‘’Super shocking… but heaven gained a wonderful saint. My thoughts and prayers are with the Odukoyas and all my friends and brethren at TLFOLC.’’

Former chairman, First Bank of Nigeria, Ibukun Awosika said, ‘’Pastor Nomthi Simangele Rosemary Odukoya. May 30th 1974 to November 9th 2021. An angel, mother, wife, sister, friend, and above all a true child of God. My heart is really heavy tonight, while there is so much we do not understand, yet we know that God is God. It was real joy to know you Pastor Nomthi. You came into Fountain of Life Church and taught us the simplicity of love and faith by how you lived and loved.

"You were a true light in our pastor’s life. Thank you for teaching us to enjoy our lives. I know you will enjoy yours in heaven. It’s hard to imagine not seeing you smile one more time. See you in heaven!’’

Award winning investigative journalist, Fisayo Soyombo commented, ‘’All the love and strength in the world to Pastor Taiwo Odukoya and all the people saddened by this loss.’’

Gospel singer, Nathaniel Bassey posted, ‘’This hit me hard. Driving home yesterday when I heard the news. Almost pounced on the one who shared it. It is well. Rest on daughter of Zion – Pastor Nomthi. Our prayers are with you sir Pastor Taiwo Odukoya and his entire family. At the end of the day, we are a people of hope. And it doesn’t end here.’’

Seun Kentebe said, ‘’I cannot imagine the pain and emotional turmoil Pastor Taiwo Odukoya is going through. Two wives in one lifetime! I pray he comes out from under the weight of this tragedy. RIP Pastor Nomthi. God grant Pastor Tawio strength and fortitude to bear this great loss.’’

Sir David Onyemaizu tweeted, ‘’Seems like yesterday when Pastor Taiwo Odukoya mourned his wife Bimbo Odukoya in 2005. Today, he is mourning another, and it is a sad sight. Still we all will die one day. I feel bad for that man because he is one of the ones I respect. May he find strength.’’
