Sinach’s ‘’Way Maker’’ Bags Song of the Year at 2021 BMI Christian Awards

The annual BMI Christian Awards celebration is dedicated to honoring Christian songwriters across the globe. On August 2, the honorees were announced on its website with Nigeria’s Sinach getting the honors for Song of the Year.

Sinach’s Way Maker has touched lives over the years since its release. More so, it has bagged several awards for its impact. The song was written by the gospel artist and published by Capitol CMG Publishing.

It will be recalled that the hit song won the Song of the Year at the Dove Awards in 2020. Sinach was the first Nigerian gospel singer to win this award. ‘’Way Maker’’ has been covered by various artistes such as Michael W. Smith and Christain rock band, Leeland.

Ethan Hulse got the BMI Songwriter of the Year award. He wrote ‘’Stand In Your Love,’’ Rescue Story,’’ and ‘’The Father’s House.’’ The Publisher of the Year award went to Capitol CMG. The publishing house had the ‘’highest percentage of copyright ownership among the year’s most-performed songs, including the hits “Believer,” “Burn the Ships,” “Dead Man Walking,” “God’s Not Done With You,” “Holy Water,” “Let It Rain (Is There Anybody),” “See a Victory,” “Stand In Your Love,” “The Blessing,” “The Father’s House,” “Way Maker,” and “You Are Loved.”

“The BMI Christian Awards is one of our favorite annual celebrations, but it is especially meaningful after the events of the last year. Throughout this time, each and every one of these extraordinary songwriters has used their gift to uplift others,” says Leslie Roberts, AVP, Creative, BMI Nashville.

“BMI is so proud to honor the creators of the inspirational songs of hope and faith that bring comfort to so many around the world. I am hopeful that we will all be together again to celebrate in person next year,’’ Roberts added in the website.
