On Sunday June 6, the General Superintendent of Deeper Life Bible Church, Pastor William Folorunsho Kumuyi clocked 80 years. He was born in Ogun state where he had his primary and secondary education. In 1967, he bagged a first-class honours degree in Mathematics and also became the overall best graduating student that year.
Before he began his pastoral journey, he was a mathematics lecturer at the University of Lagos. He founded the Church in 1982 with the international headquarters at Gbagada, Lagos. The 30,000 church auditorium was commissioned on April 24, 2018 with Vice President Yemi Osinabjo in attendance.
Kumuyi is also an author with titles such as The Hour of Decision, How to Know God’s Will in Marriage, Have Compassion on Them, The Spirit Controlled Family, The Lord’s Prayer, The Truly Liberated Woman amongst others to his name.
Being a preacher of the gospel, Kumuyi has touched lives tremendously. His messages have inspired many on the path of holiness. Likewise, he admonishes his members to toe the path of righteousness in all that they do.
To mark his special day, Governors of Lagos State and Akwa Ibom State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Udom Emmanuel respectively, honored the revered preacher at the church’s headquarters in Lagos.
In his remark, Sanwo-Olu affirmed that Pastor Kumuyi is a ‘’shinning light and a beacon of hope, who we must all emulate to make the country free of vices.’’
In addition, his members took to social media to celebrate their spiritual leader. A member of the church, Hope Oluwatofunmi Adebiyi posted on his Facebook page saying, ‘’Your concern for our spiritual lives and the dedication to nurturing young Christians are some of the most commendable and outstanding things about you. Thank you for being so phenomenal sir.’’
In another post, Adebiyi said, ‘’Your faith, admonitions and conduct have inspired un us to be transformed. You’ve shown a good example to us all in your leadership, integrity and lifestyle. You have remained steadfast in your service to the Lord. Indeed, your life us worthy of emulation and exaltation. May God uphold you and strengthen you with good health and more years of success to celebrate. Happy birthday Daddy! #PastorKumyiat80’’
