On Monday night, award-winning Christian musician, Lauren Daigle, performed her hit song “Look Up Child” on American Idol. About ten years ago, the singer auditioned on the reality show. Her latest appearance is on a special episode of the show titled "American Idol: The Comeback".
CBN News reported that this special episode featured ten finalists from last season. The reason was to give them the opportunity to perform live on a big stage as they could not do so in 2020 due to the COVID-19 lockdown.
It will be recalled that at age 17, Daigle auditioned in the singing competition. However, she was not selected by the judges. Presently, she has achieved much in her music career with two Grammy awards to her name. Likewise, she holds the record for longest-lasting No. 1 single on any Billboard chart.
In 2015, Daigle got her first Grammy nomination for her album ‘’How Can It Be. Her single ’’Trust in You’’ was also nominated in 2016 but she bagged her first Grammys in 2018 for her song ‘’You Say’’ which won the Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song and her album ‘’Look Up Child’’ also won Best Contemporary Christian Music Album.
It is paramount to note that Daigle's song "Still Rolling Stones" was the ninth most popular song of 2020. She was also named by Billboard as the top Christian Artist of 2020. On YouTube, "You Say" has over 206 million views and more than 310 million streams on Spotify.
