Preacher Voddie Baucham Seeks for Prayers after ‘Full-Blown Heart Failure’

Christian preacher, Voddie Baucham, is seeking the prayers of fellow believers as he goes through another dark path in his life. Baucham, who is also the dean of theology at African Christian University, Zambia, made this known in a Facebook post a couple of days back. He is been battling a heart failure that is said to be full blown.

The preacher recalled that he felt unwell in the period he was about to round up his preaching tour in Zambia. At first, he felt it was as a result of overworking himself. However, it wasn’t long before he knew that there was more to it.

While recounting his health challenges, Baucham said he observed the symptoms last December upon his return to Dallas with his wife to bury her mother. Among the symptoms he felt was shortness of breath and weakness of the body, among others.

Nevertheless, he summed up these feelings with the heavy bags he carried while travelling. The symptoms made him to visit a health centre where the tests he did proved that his health issues were bigger than he had thought.

Presently, he is going back to undergo treatment in the United States. Therefore, he seeks for prayers for safe trip; for divine healing; for his wife whose ‘rock’ is now leaning on her; and his children who are terrified with news. In addition, he asked for prayers for the doctors that will carry out the treatment. He also requested for prayers for financial provision because he has no insurance presently.

Senior Pastor of Grace Baptist Church in Cape Coral, Florida, Tom Ascol, has currently raised over $820,000 for Baucham through the GoFundMe account he set up. Ascol stated that Voddie Baucham has been his friend for almost 20 years. He is also a dedicated servant of Christ who works with him at Founders Ministries as a board member. Likewise, Ascol said that the Christian preacher is a pioneer member of the Institute of Public Theology.

Baucham appreciated the effort of Ascol while admitting that he is not sure how much his treatment would cost but every financial support he gets is much needed. In one of his Facabook posts he made about his health challenge, Baucham said that he does not like the idea of being pushed around in a wheel chair.

This mindset seems like a prideful one which the Lord is trying to reveal to him in this darkest valley of his life. Likewise, he talked about how he always felt strong and big. He loves to hold conversations where everyone would listen to him. But now, it is difficult for him to even speak up because of the ailment.

Furthermore, he quoted 2 Corinthians 4:7, where the Apostle Paul wrote, “But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not us.”

Baucham affirmed that he wants his strength, stamina and voice back. He wants to be that healthy man he used to be before. However, he wants that feeling of contentment more when he lacks what he truly wants. In this regard, he admitted that ‘godliness with contentment is great gain.’
