Abducted Catholic priest, Most reverend Moses Chikwe released unharmed after 5 days



The Most Reverend Moses Chikwe, abducted by unknown gunmen on the 27th of December, 2020, has been released. This was disclosed via a Facebook post by the Catholic Archdiocese of Owerri in Imo State.

According to the Anthony Obinna, the Archbishop of Owerri diocese in the post, His Lordship, Most reverend Moses Chikwe and his driver, Mrs Ndubuisi Robert were released unharmed at about 10.00p.m. on the 1st of January 2021. 

The Archbishop said he personally visited and saw Most Reverend Chikwe at his residence at about 10.45p.m. on the same day he was released.

Archbishop Obinna acknowledged the assistance of the Imo State government through the Directorate of Security Services and the anti-kidnapping squad of the Nigerian Police and the Anambra State government through the Chief Security Office of the state.
