Irakpo's Praise Concert... a Bride to Unity and Language Preservation

The maiden Praise Him in Your Language Unity concert, which held at the Diva event centre last Sunday showed the various ways God could be praised in different languages. The event, which was a cultural gospel initiative by Silec Entertainment Concept, was formed to promote Nigeria's rich cultural heritage and talented young Nigerians. Held in conjunction with Karis Music Ministries, it was a gathering of the young and old, the privileged and less privileged of society.

Managing Director of Silec Entertainment Concept, Mr. Sunny Irakpo stated that the aim of the concert was to propagate the gospel of Christ to mankind through praises and worship. He tasked everyone to continually to seek the face of God Almighty irrespective of religion, ethnicity, political differences and diverse languages. He indicated that the reason for the creation of a platform for live musical performances was to inspire the youth towards the attainment of greatness through the use of their God-given potentials.
Irakpo further added that the creation of employment opportunities through entertainment and re-energising of Nigeria's cultural heritage were other major objectives of the concert. Prominent comedians and gospel artistes like Seyilaw, MC Aboki, Star Richie, Mayor, Bornbless, Kudy Spice, Senior Lecturer among many others featured at the event.

Renowned servants of God who were in attendance included Founder and Promoter of Traditional Gospel Music, Rev. Ekenyong Bassey, President and founder of Love for All Nation, Rev. Yinka Yusuf, Vicar St. Peter's Anglican Church, Sangotedo, Rev. Douglas Asoliye West, Publisher of Ovation International magazine, Chief Dele Momodu and a host of others. While addressing the audience Irakpo noted that his desire was to re-unite Nigerians with his style of music and give leadership direction to young people in order to encourage them to take responsibility for their talents.

He, therefore, called on well meaning Nigerians and corporate organisations to support young talented people so that they could be useful to themselves and the society at large.

The event was also used as a medium to recognise the effort of some Nigerians who have given their resources and platform to develop young people. Notable among them was Fatai Adewale who supports talented individuals.

At the end, Irakpo charged everyone to take Nigeria's indigenous languages seriously, as they were the country's identity and must not be allowed to go into extinction. He added that his Praise Him in Your Language Unity was his own way of advancing the process of preserving Nigeria's mother tongues.
