CONCERNED with the state of affairs of things in the country, a prayer session tagged: “Women Prayer Summit,” was recently held in Lagos.
It was organised by two women Christian bodies: Blessed Hands Ministry and Choice Women Fellowship International. The prayer session was focused on economy, family, judiciary and security.
At the opening session, the prime convener, Sister Elfreda Nike Akintewe of Brooklyn Tabernacle, USA, said the inspiration to organise a prayer for Nigeria came through a vision she had about three years ago. She explained that the vision moved her, but the encouragement she got from Broklyn Terbanacle, which is a prayer church, made her to reach out to some people and Christian organisations in Nigeria.
She stated that the summit is not under the influence of any political party or struggle. “It is all about praying for peace to reign in the country,” she said.
Women pastors were drawn from different churches and Christian ministries with each taking turn to offer both praise-worships and prayer sessions.
Revd. Dr. (Mrs.) Tinuke Ajala-Ogunrinde of the House on The Rock Ministry and the chairperson, Honey Bee Foundation for Women in Distress spoke on the travails of fallen women and agony of widows. She said one may not be in the position to reach people in authority and corridors of power, but prayers can do it. She then led the prayer that the representatives of the masses in the state and national assembly should serve the interest of the people.
Pastor (Mrs.) Shalom Gibran Samako of Choice Women Fellowship International, and also the Resident Pastor, Grace and Power Channels Church, explained the passion to put smile on the faces of women, irrespective of the difficulty they are passing through.
Pastor (Mrs.) Bridget Onyekachi of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (House of Glory Parish), Lekki, said the bulk of peacekeeping rests on the judiciary and law enforcement agents. In this wise, the use of military and paramilitary should be checked. She later led the prayer session on security and safety of human and material properties.
Pastor (Mrs.) Tabitha Johnson of Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministry led the prayer for peace, harmony and unity so that people of the country can live together as one.
Praying for the family, Pastor (Mrs.) Anulika Onwurah of the Latter Glory Assembly, Aguda, Surulere, hinted on good and adequate care for children in line with God’s wish for all parents. She said that children’s home training and their education should be the bedrock in family setting.
