It’s Christmas! This is a period to reflect on the birth of Jesus, his purpose for our lives, and our relationship with Him. It is also a period to relax and one of the best ways to do this is by watching movies.

Some movies have not only inspired people, they have also made cool money from making an impact. Let’s take a look at some of these films which have made a mark in 2023.

1. Jesus Revolution
This movie was directed by Jon Erwin and Brent McCorkle. Its production cost was $15 million but it has gulped $54.2m in ticket sales so far. It was released in the United States by Lionsgate on February 24, 2023.

The movie depicts the ‘Jesus People’ movement of the late ‘60s. It’s a faith-based movie that can help to guide one’s path in God’s service. It is an adaptation of an autobiography book on the same title co-written by Greg Laurie.
 
2. The Blind
This movie is a biopic that pictures how the patriarch of Duck Dynasty, Phil Robertson, grew from a broke child in the United States who hunted for food to a chronic alcoholic, until the wife he miserably mistreated got him to see the light.

The role of Robertson was played by Indiana Jones who overcame what he called a “sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll lifestyle” for a life of piety and sobriety.

The movie plot was centred in the ’60s, with a framing narrative in the early ’80s. There are life lessons to be learnt from this movie.

3. After Death
This is one faith-based movie that has made $11.5m in box office sales. It depicts the nature of near-death experiences which were discussed by scientists and researchers in the movie.

Several persons also spoke about their experiences in the afterlife, including seeing their deceased relatives, visiting heaven and hell, and having a conversation with Jesus. Altogether, the movie promotes hope, purpose, love, and life, and builds the thought of eternity in the mind of the viewers.

4. The Shift
This movie pictures the life of the biblical Job and it has made $10.6m so far in ticket sales. Just like Job in the bible, the lead character has his life running smoothly where he has all he has ever dreamt of. But he lost them all. There are a lot of life lessons to learn in this movie including trusting God when things are not the way we desire.

5. His Only Son
This movie, which was produced with $250,000, has made $13.8m in sales so far. It was produced by David Helling and it pictured the story of the biblical Abraham, Sarah and their son, Isaac. The movie will help to build one’s faith, especially in this festive season.
