The Senior Pastor of Omega Fire Ministries, Apostle Johnson Suleman, has reprimanded some people who condemned the late gospel singer, Sammie Okposo, when he revealed earlier in the year that he had cheated on his wife, Ozioma.

According to Suleman, Okposo told him that he was condemned by several persons, including pastors which brought tears to his eyes. The cleric added that this action by believers in the house of God simply meant that love has left the church.

Suleman wrote on Facebook, “Now they post his pictures but never reach out in his trying times. He told me what pastors did to him and we both wept. Love has left the church. We have more ‘lawyers’ who are ready to judge than intercessors ready to restore. Rest in power my brother. You conquered!”

Suleman’s post generated several comments from people who agreed with him. Evangelist-Dr J Ben Greatness said, “So sad. This generation only celebrates you in your absence but envies and fights you when you are alive.”

Emezue Helen commented, “Bless you Apostle Sir. His critics are now celebrating him in death. This is just too disheartening. Rest on Uncle Sammy. God console your lovely wife and the entire Okposo family, and to those who stood by you."

On her part, Chidinma Ogujiuba said, “What we have in Christendom now are sinners judging others for sinning differently. May his soul rest in peace.” Joy Ogbhemhe wrote, “People don’t even remember there is only one universal judge that made it clear to us not to judge. So painful the way people conclude on others. Rest in peace sir."

In February 2022, Christianity Nigeria had reported that the late gospel singer had to deactivate his social media accounts following the condemnation he got for announcing that he cheated on his wife, Ozzy.

On his return to social media, he wrote, “I am free from the power of sin. I am no longer bound by the fear of men. I am the righteousness of God in Christ. I am born of God, the life of God is in me; Christ in me the hope of glory I am free from the law, from the power of sin. I am no longer bound by the fear of men.

“God’s grace is available, sufficient and working for me. Jesus already saved me not because of any works of righteousness that I have done, but because of His own compassion and mercy, by the cleansing of the new birth (spiritual transformation, regeneration) and renewing by the Holy Spirit...”
