Pastor Bakare criticizes the Buhari-led gov’t for shortchanging Nigerians

Head pastor and Serving Overseer of the Citadel Global Community Church (formerly known as the Latter Rain Assembly), Pastor Tunde Bakare has lent his voice on the present leadership of the country. The outspoken cleric who is also dubbed as one of the most influential political pastors in the country was the former running mate to President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2015 presidential elections.

In a chat with Nigeria’s foremost journalist, Dele Momodu, Bakare stated that the ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC), promised Nigerians change. However, they seem to have been shortchanged after refused to accept the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.

In addition, Bakare stated that Nigerians must be feeling disappointed with the Buhari-led administration. He admitted that Buhari has not changed. Even with the challenges affecting the nation, Buhari is still the same. The conflicting interest of various groups in the country has not moved Buhari to behave in another manner.

It is often said that power changes people. However, Bakare cannot ascertain if power has actually changed the president. Perhaps, he has to speak for himself concerning that aspect.

He also said that it is quite unfortunate that the expectations of those Nigerians who demanded for a breath of fresh air have not been met. More so, the disappointment is very evident on the faces of everyone.

In conclusion, he stated that the populace has the right to ask for good governance. The desire of the people which made them to support the APC above PDP is still hanging. Instead of the change they wanted, they have been shortchanged so far.
