Bloody Palm Sunday as bomb strikes Coptic Church. 21 people reported dead

At least 21 people have been reported dead as a bomb blast went off near a Coptic church in the Egyptian city of Tanta, north of Cairo. Initial reports said that they were 13 but this has been updated to 21

The report also say that about 40 people were injured in the blast.

The bomb blast struck just before 10.00a.m. local time  (0800 GMT)

In a Twitter post, a spokesman for the Foreign Affairs Ministry, Ahmed Abu Zeid, said, “Terrorism hits Egypt again.”

Christians make up about 10 percent of Egypt’s population and have been frequent targets of Islamic extremists.
