First Indigenous Travelling Secretary of Scripture Union, Revd. Dr John Oye, honoured at WAFBEC 2017

Covenant Christian Centre celebrated and honoured the first indigenous travelling secretary of Scripture Union, Revd. Dr. John Oye.

He took up this position from John Dean in 1966. He can be described as one of the fathers of Pentecostalism and Evangelism in Nigeria. He went around the tertiary institutions in the '60s and '70s to raise some of the present generation of Nigerian preachers. He was the travelling secretary from 1966 to 1972.

Born in Ghana to Nigerian parents, he attended University of Ibadan from 1962. While there, he joined Inter Varsity Christian Union and eventually became the President.

Rev Emiko Amotsuka had the honour of presenting a trophy to him. Rev. Oye was accompanied by his wife.

Here are some pictures from the event.
